The Challenges
Straits Construction partners with agencies and developers to construct extremely complex building projects in a fast tracked manner. Before Lean PlanDo, Straits faced the following challenges: 1. Faced challenges in site work due to mismanagement of information flow. 2. Delays were being caused by subcontractors and were not able to effectively establish project control. 3. Issues were hidden, and this led to delayed troubleshooting to arrest issues on time which caused delays to the project.
The Outcomes
After Straits adopted Lean PlanDo in their projects, the following improvements in project execution were seen. The advantages of using Lean PlanDo were: 1. Established collaborative control over the subcontractors to achieve smoother production processes on a weekly basis. 2. Clear objectives set to all the stakeholders and information flow was seamless through the digital tools thus boosting up the rate of progress weekly. 3. Transparency promoted collaboration which in-turn promoted proactive actions from the team which helped in avoiding many issues preventing delays.
